Laura Kinney is a Seattle-based artist holding a B.F.A. in painting and video. She grew up with both parents working in the arts and spent her formative years exploring her mother’s drafting table, her father’s workshop, and later, working in a frame shop, experiences that shaped her attention to craft, structure, and presentation.

More recently, Laura has focused on assemblage, collage, and papercut, often incorporating framing materials and unconventional elements into her work. In her practice, she works with pattern, repetition, connection, and balance, arranging fragments until they achieve a sense of harmony.

Her work deals with themes of material transformation, the creative potential of overlooked or discarded objects, and the human impulse to find patterns and order in the world.
